Chairman of MVDC
On 21 May 2019, Councillor Mary Huggins was elected as Chairman of the Council for the municipal year 2019-20. The Chairman of Mole Valley District Council (MVDC) is a civic role and is similar to a Mayor in that the Chairman is the first representative of the district.
The role is ceremonial and the Chairman has no decision-making powers unlike the role of an elected Mayor, which exists in some parts of the UK.
Throughout her year as Chairman, Councillor Huggins will be attending local community events throughout the district and representing Mole Valley at events throughout Surrey. If you are planning an event and would like the Chairman to attend, please send an invitation (via Pippbrook) or contact the Civic Support Staff.
Additionally, Councillor Huggins has chosen to support three charities during her year as Chairman.
- Leatherhead Youth Project
- PSDS - a charity providing support for children with downs syndrome and their families
The current Vice-Chairman of the Council is Councillor Patricia Wiltshire.
