Forty Foot Playground
The new and inclusive playground features a range of fun and inclusive features for children of all abilities to enjoy, including: a Sensory garden and sandpit, trampoline, zip wire, lookout tower, talking tubes, double bay swing and visual aid panels.
The winning Forty Foot playground design was awarded to play company Kompan; a decision informed by the result of two public consultations held in 2017. Work on-site began in September and the playground officially opened on the first day of October half-term.
Mole Valley District Council worked closely with Woodlands School - whose pupils have a range of disabilities and are regular visitors to the Forty Foot Playground - and Communications specialists Tobii Dynavox, prior to installing visual aid panels at Meadowbank.
The panels at Forty Foot playground feature a range of play-related pictures to act as visual cues and enable children with communication difficulties to better communicate their play needs to their parent, guardian or other children.
