Double Gold Medal Winning Olympian Cycling and Running in Mole Valley!
The community sports initiative 'All Girls Can' from Brockham were very excited to welcome Dame Kelly Holmes to Mole Valley on Friday 29th June to "#joininjune", as she took part in a social cycle through Brockham with the group, finishing with the iconic climb to the top of Box Hill. After brief refreshments at the top (and photos!) the All Girls Can run club led her back down to Brockham Green.
This activity was part of Dame Kelly's #joininjune campaign where she travelled to join in with active groups around the country that motivate each other to feel good, both mentally and physically.
Councillor David Hawksworth CBE, Cabinet Member for Wellbeing, said: "We're proud to have supported this unique initiative, which was started by two enthusiastic and determined local ladies Philippa Curphey and Eleanor Lestrange. We are pleased to have been able to assist in this project, by facilitating the training of leaders, which is part of our aim to help to create healthy and self-confident communities in Mole Valley. The All Girls Can activity groups are a wonderful example of this. They are a brilliant way for ladies to take the first, sometimes scary, steps into exercise, and also a great way to meet like-minded local people and form new friendships."
