Christmas Recycling

The countdown to Christmas has begun. Christmas cards are filling post boxes, cardboard-packaged gifts are landing on doorsteps and empty mince pie boxes are piling up high. Luckily, in Surrey you can recycle your festive paper and card with ease.

Whether you have empty chocolate boxes, old envelopes or used wrapping paper, there is room in your recycling bin for them all. Just remember that you can't recycle anything with glitter on, wrapping paper that doesn't rip or cards that contain batteries.

Here are some of the items that you can put in your recycling bin this Christmas:

  • Cardboard chocolate boxes
  • Mince pie boxes
  • Delivery boxes
  • Magazines
  • Wrapping paper (that can be ripped and has no glitter on it)
  • Christmas cards (that don't contain batteries or have glitter on)
  • Envelopes
  • Paper gift tags
  • Gift bags
  • Paper calendars
  • Cake boxes
  • Plastic drinks bottles
  • Tubs of chocolates
  • Cream and yoghurt pots
  • Plastic milk bottles
  • Plastic food trays
  • Glass sauce jars
  • Glass wine and beer bottles
  • Food tins
  • Drinks cans
