Statement from Councillor Margaret Cooksey regarding Gatwick Airport's Final Masterplan

Councillor Margaret Cooksey, Cabinet Member for Planning said, "Gatwick Airport is an important economic driver in the area, but it is vital that the impacts of airport growth, such as noise, air quality and surface access, are satisfactorily addressed.

"We will work closely with other local authorities around the airport to scrutinise the proposal to use the emergency standby runway for regular departures. Should Gatwick Airport Limited's application to the Government for a Development Consent Order be successful we will seek to ensure that the benefits of airport growth for Mole Valley residents are realised, and any negative impacts on our communities are monitored, mitigated and managed, including during construction."
